It would have been hard to imagine a few years ago that I’d be asked to judge a scarecrow competition. Well, that’s exactly what the Bishop’s Hull Flower Show organisers asked me to do once again this year.
How hard could it be? Having no previous experience of scarecrow judging, I thought it would be a relatively straightforward task. How wrong was I!
Clearly, all 17 unique entries were winners. However, selecting a 1-2-3 was very difficult, so your guidance in voting for your favourites proved invaluable in helping me make my decision.
Online voting closed at 7pm on Thursday, 13th August, and I announced the winners at the Bishop’s Hull Flower Show on Sunday, 16th August. And they were:
1st – E. Three Blind Mice
2nd – K. Hickory Dickory Dock
3rd – M. Humpty Dumpty
Finally, congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered. Your creativity and hard work are greatly appreciated.
Photos of the 1-2-3 are above, their reference letters can be found in the bottom-left-hand corner. The show committee invited all of the scarecrows to the show. You’ll see those that were able to attend in the final image (you’ll need to zoom-in). There were a few that couldn’t make it because they were busy scaring crows 
at home!
