A reminder that a full road closure of Corporation Street is due to start from 21/09/2026 (today) until 09/10/2026.

Wessex Water have identified a significant failing in the existing sewer line, situated under the carriageway. They must access the sewer from existing carriageway apparatus and provide a new sewer lining to repair and protect the existing structure.
The works will involve some minor enabling works on High Street, near the pedestrian crossing on Corporation Street. This phase of work is estimated to take place between 07/09/2026 and 02/10/2026. The works footprint will still allow continuous pedestrian movements and will allow continuous access to all nearby businesses as usual.
Wessex Water must then perform a full road closure of Corporation Street between 21/09/2026 and 09/10/2026. Please see below screenshot including diversion route.
This will be a 24/7 road closure, with accesses only provided for bus movements on Castle Way. We have asked Wessex Water to engage with the bus companies in this respect.
We have identified to Wessex Water that Corporation Street has recently been resurfaced. Having engaged with colleagues in our Highways team, we have ensured that excavations are minimal. The only planned excavation works are to enlarge a pre-existing carriageway chamber, allowing for the full requirement of slip lining works to take place.
